Zoe Zou, LMFT-Associate

Zoe is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, supervised by Dr. Lisa V. Merchant, LMFT-S, who works with individuals, couples, families, and children. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Samford University and a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University. Zoe is especially drawn to trauma-informed work and supporting clients through relational and emotional challenges.

As a first-generation immigrant, Zoe understands the complexity of navigating multiple cultures, identities, and expectations. She offers therapy in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. She is a good fit with clients experiencing cultural adaptation, acculturation stress, or feeling caught between worlds. Zoe believes healing happens through relationships — with others, with ourselves, and with the world around us. Her approach is warm, collaborative, and experiential, meaning therapy is something you explore together rather than something done to you. Sessions move at a gentle, supportive pace, creating space to understand emotional patterns, past experiences, and what gets in the way of connection.

Zoe uses Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) with couples to help partners feel understood, break stuck patterns, and build stronger emotional connections. She also works closely with families and children, believing that children heal best when the important people in their lives are involved. In child therapy, she often invites parents or caregivers to join, creating a space where the whole family can learn, grow, and support each other. Zoe strives to make therapy feel safe, human, and meaningful, even when exploring deeper or challenging experiences.

Zoe works with individuals, couples, family and children. You or your family might be a good fit for working with Zoe if you feel stuck in patterns you don’t fully understand, are carrying the weight of past experiences, or are longing for deeper connection with yourself or others. If you value a therapy space that feels safe, relational, and collaborative, Zoe would be glad to walk alongside you.
